Gas for Customers only, pt. 1

Description: During the gasoline crisis in the 1970's some station owners restricted sales to regular customers only. In response to this tactic and several others, Federal Energy Director William F. Simon prohibited station owners from discriminating against certain customers. This story is about how gas station owners are responding to this new regulation. Interviews with owners of gas stations who are upset by the law that stops them from serving "regular customers only." L Street Brownies

Description: Silent footage of the L Street Brownies, one the oldest "polar bear" club in the US, during one of their annual New Year's swims. Shots of older men in swim trunks on a snowy beach in front of the L Street Bathhouse (Curley Community Center) running into the water. Men line up on the beach, throw snow at each other, and splash in the water. Some close-ups of the men. Also couple shots of someone sledding down a hill that looks to be in a different location. Picture is very dark with high contrast at times.
